2004

Early in 2004 The Quarrymen finally got round to making another CD. This was by invitation of the BMG record company of Japan, who having heard the Quarrymen’s concerts in Tokyo and Osaka in 2003 wanted the group to record a skiffle cd for the Japanese market. BMG’s production team flew over from Tokyo and the cd was recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. This cd includes many significant numbers in the Quarrymen’s history.

Quarrymen in Norway:

John Lennon’s Original Quarrymen played at the Norwegian Beatles Fan Club Convention on Sat Nov 27 at the SAS Garden Hotel in Trondheim. Despite the snow the Norwegian Beatles fans turned out to enjoy what was to prove the Quarrymen’s last concert with Eric Griffiths. Eric did not realise how ill he was and had to leave the stage occasionally to take a brief rest. However he soldiered on and on his return to the UK he entered hospital for a check-up and was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. He died in January 2005.
