Did Pete Best ever play with the Quarrymen?

No -  Pete Best was naturally around at the club run by his mother Mona Best, but as he didn’t receive his first drum kit till Christmas 1959, he was not a contender to play with the Quarrymen (who played in August, September and October 1959).  By the time that John, Paul and George approached him in August 1960 shortly before their departure for Hamburg, they were already calling themselves the Beatles.
