Hunter Davies, the author of the Official Beatles Biography which was published in 1967, has written a biography of the Quarrymen which appeared in 2001. "The Beatles book was just a warmup for this one." he joked at the Liverpool Beatles Convention that year. Hunter met the Quarrymen by chance in Cuba in 1998 where they were appearing at the Havana Beatles Conference and he was researching for a travel book about the Caribbean. The book weaves together the lives of the Beatles and the Quarrymen from their origins to the present day and contains many unpublished photos. The book has been translated into Italian and Japanese.
