The Quarrymen in 2015 - part three:

October: John Lennon’s Birthday at The Cavern

On what would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday the Quarrymen opened the show at The Cavern with an one hour set featuring the skiffle and rock ‘n’ roll which they played way back in the fifties when John himself was just starting out. They were joined on stage for one number by the Quarrymen’s former manager Nige Walley on washboard,  who obtained for them their first ever Cavern booking.  They were followed by “Harsh Blues” -  a band from Brazil who paid tribute to John’s solo years and the evening finished off with the Cavern’s resident Beatle band - The Cavern Club Beatles.

On Friday Oct 8 Rod Davis joined a special guided tour and visited his old school - Quarry Bank - and then he and Colin Hanton paid their first visit in over fifty years to John’s mother Julia’s house in Blomfield Road in Springwood. The house had changed quite  substantially since the 1950’s, but new owner Jackie Holmes - seen here with Colin & Rod, is intending to try to turn back the clock as much as possible.

October: A Quarrymen in Canada:

In October 2015 Rod Davis toured Canada with his one-man show “John Lennon’s Quarrymen Days”, talking about growing up in Liverpool, the early days of skiffle music and how the Quarrymen began, with more than a few songs and slides squeezed in between.
